Hello Everyone!
Well I have finally realized that I HAVE INTERNET at home! Which is very helpful in having enough time to check e-mail, do homework and of course post blogs. Well it has been a very busy week. We went out to dance for the first time last night at a club called 'Sin Ventura', it was SO busy but luckily we didn't have to pay cover. I had a free lesson on how to dance salsa and bachata so I used those skills last night! I still need to practice, but it was really fun to dance salsa in the club. They also played a lot of Regeatton music, which is like the spanish version of club dance music. I stayed over at Libby's house because a lot of other students from our group live in that area and no one really lives near our house. I learned to really appreciate my house because it is on a very quiet street and you don't hear the buses at 5:30 in the morning :D Today I climbed this mountain on the south side of Antigua called 'La Cruz' (that means 'the Cross') because there is a very large cross on top of 'the world' of sorts at the top of the mountain. It was a pretty easy way up, and we had a view of the whole city from there and a phenomenal view of 'El Volcan de Agua'. Libby and I stayed up there for about 2-3hours just sitting on the white wall (you'll see it in the pictures). There was a beautiful breeze, and it was very calming to sit there and just see the city. We were also lucky enough to see 'El Volcan de fuego' erupt while we were there. We just saw this huge cloud of smoke rise up from it, it was so amazing! I had a small accident while up there, we were trying to take a picture of us jumping off the while wall towards the grassy area. We tried so many times to try and capture the action shot but couldn't. On one of the last tries I jumped and landed on a root in the ground and my foot and ankle gave out. So I can sort of walk still but my host family gave me tylenol, a freezer pack, and I bought a bandage for it. This German man who is also staying at the house bought me this cream that is good for injuries! It was very nice of him to buy it and I used it tonight, it felt sort of like burts bees original lip chap feels on your lips (sort of minty) but on my foot! hahaha! I just stayed home this afternoon and had it elevated. It feels a lot better and I hope to be back to normal by Monday. We had our first real class of Development Economics on Friday and it was really interesting. Our professor includes social problems into our economic graphs and charts and it makes the class a lot more interesting when you are able to attach real problems to charts and figures. On Sundays we have to provide our own food, so I am excited to try some new food and restaurants tomorrow! I really like my host family, they are just the most welcoming kind family! We have been invited to my host mother's daughter's Baby shower tomorrow, and her grandsons' birthday party that is on Wednesday! I am so excited to attend these things!! Well I am doing well except for my foot but it will heal quickly! I miss everyone and I am thinking of you guys! Take care <3
